Brentwood Piano

Yeva's Teaching philosophy & Experience

I specialize in teaching students with special needs including Autism and Visual Impairments. As a trained ABA behaviorist, I worked on a daily basis with children who have autism and used that experience to develop unique piano teaching methods for special needs students.  I am also developing new methods for teaching children under 5 years old.

My lessons involve all facets of music, from theory and ear training, to performance, technique and composition. But most importantly, my lessons are geared toward developing musical independence and a love for music in students of all ages and abilities.

My teaching philosophy is to accomodate every student's personal needs and learning abilities. I understand that some students just want to have fun with lessons and not necessarily stress out about getting to the next level. For those students I take the slow and steady approach with unique teaching methods I have created throughout my teaching career. I incorporate composition in lessons for students of all ages and levels. Some students just want to make up their own songs, even at 3 years old! I encourage students to develop their musical creativity from the very start.
